What Tejas collects, why, where it is kept, and how you can delete it.
Last reviewed 2026-11-07
Tejas is run by Matih Labs. This page says what data Tejas holds, why, and what you can do about it. For questions write to contact@matih.ai.
Who this is for
- Shop owners and staff who use Tejas to run a shop.
- Customers who order from a shop on its Tejas page, on WhatsApp or in the shop chat.
- Shop owners who, when it opens, connect Instagram to bring posts into their catalog. Instagram import is coming soon.
What we collect
- Customers: phone number, name if you give it, delivery address if you give it, your orders and messages to the shop, and your choices about offers.
- Shop owners and staff: name, phone number, email, role, shop details, catalog, orders, and the settings you choose.
- WhatsApp: the messages you and a shop exchange through Tejas's WhatsApp number, and delivery status of our messages.
- Instagram (coming soon, and only if an owner connects it): when you connect Instagram, we will collect the profile name, photo, bio and website, and the posts: caption, kind, picture, link and time. We will ask for read access only. We will not post, reply or read messages through Instagram.
- Payments: card details never reach Tejas. You pay on the payment company's own page. We keep the payment status and amount.
Why we use it
- To take, confirm and track orders, and to tell you about them on WhatsApp.
- To verify your phone number with a one-time code.
- When an owner connects Instagram, to draft catalog items from the owner's own posts. The owner will check every item before it goes live.
- To keep Tejas safe, stop abuse and fix faults.
- To send offers from a shop, only to customers who agreed. Reply STOP at any time to stop that shop's offers.
We do not sell personal data. When you connect Instagram, we will not use that data for ads, and we will not show it to anyone but the owner who connected it and the shop's own team.
Where it is kept and for how long
All Tejas data is kept in India, in Central India, with backups in South India. Payment keys are kept encrypted, and so will Instagram access tokens be. Phone numbers are hidden from any role that may not see them.
- Instagram access (coming soon): when you connect Instagram, the token will last up to 60 days and will be renewed while you use Tejas. When you tap Disconnect, we will delete the token, stop looking for new posts and delete the cached posts. Items you already imported, and their photos, will stay in your catalog because they are your own.
- Instagram export files (coming soon): when you upload an Instagram export, we will delete the file within one hour of reading it.
- Orders and invoices: kept as long as the law asks shops and Tejas to keep records.
- Everything else: kept while your account is open, then deleted as set out in "Delete your data".
Who we share with
We share data only to run Tejas: the shop you order from, the payment company you pay through, Meta (WhatsApp and, once it opens, for owners who connect it, Instagram), the delivery partner a shop chooses, and the cloud and software services that host and run Tejas. They may use the data only for Tejas.
AI and speech services
Tejas uses outside AI services to read words and draft replies. They work on the one message in front of them. Every order can also be placed with taps, without them.
- A language-model service (reached through an OpenAI-compatible interface, with fallback models if it is down) reads what a customer or an owner writes and drafts the reply. It receives the text of that message and the shop details needed to answer, such as items, prices, order status and hours.
- Sarvam AI turns voice notes into text and translates replies into your language. It receives the voice note's audio for transcription, and the text of a reply that has to be translated.
- Photo enhancement (an image model on the same kind of service) is for shop owners and is not released yet. When it is, it will receive the catalog photo an owner chooses to improve, and nothing else.
- Mitra, Matih's own data service, will answer an owner's questions about their shop's numbers once it is connected to Tejas. It will use its own model provider and receive the owner's question and the shop figures needed to answer it.
Tejas does not use customers' messages to train its own models. What each provider keeps, and for how long, is set by our agreement with it; we are confirming those terms and will say here what they are. We send them only what the task needs.
Your choices
- Ask for a copy of your data, or for it to be deleted: write to contact@matih.ai, as set out in Delete your data.
- Withdraw consent for offers at any time. Withdrawing is as easy as giving it.
- Ask us to correct data that is wrong.
- Complain to us at contact@matih.ai. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we tell shop owners in Tejas and on WhatsApp before it applies. The date at the top is the last review.
